After a very successful holiday here in 2024 we have decided to return to the same hotel but organize totally different days out. As in 2024 Peter will be accompanying this tour and organizing the trips out.
This is a family run country house hotel by the sea. It has been owned by the Blakemore family since 1997. It occupies one of the most spectacular vantage points in Bournemouth being situated on East Cliff. Bournemouth pier is only a 10 minute walk away and the shops are only 15 minute walk. (There is a very steep path down to the promenade. For those with walking difficulties or wheelchair users we suggest you get the number M1 bus from outside the hotel into the centre of Bournemouth & back). A must visit are Bournemouth’s award winning gardens that run from the Pier to the main shopping area.
.
Above is a double/Twin bedroom with sea view. All bedrooms are decorated to a similar standard.
The hotel’s Restaurant No.43 is spacious and still has waiter service
The hotel’s Reception area is were the warmth of the hotel starts.
All bedrooms have en-suite facilities – Freeview tv – hospitality tray – complimentary wi-fi – hairdryer and iron.
The hotel’s Terrace with lovely sea views.
Our coach will be staying with us so we have arranged the following itinerary:-
DAY 1 We leave at 09.00am and make our way to the village of Hartley Wintney. This is our lunch stop and time for you to look around. We then go onto the Hotel Miramar, our base for the next 4 nights.
DAY 2 This morning we head into The New Forest and our first stop is at Bucklers Hard. On the banks of the Beaulieu River this place is still untouched by the passage of time. Renowned for ship building, having built much of Nelson’s Navy from Oak trees grown in the New Forest, today it is used by TV & Film companies for period dramas. We have booked guides, in period costumes, to show us around. After we leave Bucklers hard we will drive around the New Forest and stop at one or two villages in the area.
DAY 3 Today will be free time to explore Bournemouth and the surrounding area.
(For anyone interested we have arranged a 90 minute tour of the RLNI training school in Poole. This is where all new lifeboat crew come for training before joining their local lifeboat. The school only allows 30 people per visit so we have made it optional. There is a £8pp entry fee which we will collect with the final payment in August.
DAY 4 “Dorset Stories” Today we will be joined by a local tour guide and they will take us on a trip round the county of Dorset which has some of the most beautiful villages, some stunning views and lots of stories and tales. Sit back and relax while the guide entertains us with tales from Dorset.
DAY 5 Sadly, it’s time for us to leave Bournemouth. However, on the way home we will go to somewhere of interest to finish the holiday. Peter has several ideas but at the time of launching this holiday, a final decision has not been made. Return here in a little while to see where we will visit to conclude the holiday. Then it’s the final part of our journey back to Ardleigh House.
