OUR DAY OUT AT THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT
On 20 February our events club had a most enjoyable day at the Palace of Westminster. On arrival we had to clear tight security and seeing armed police was a little off putting. Our guide soon had us admiring the building and the works of art therein. The richness of the House of Lords was seen in contrast to the blandness of the House of Commons. A statue of Sir Winston Churchill stands proud in the members lobby with Lloyd George and Mrs Thatcher. Whilst in the Commons we were joined by the Hon. Member for Bolsover? A slow walk along the embankment brought us to the ship Hispaniola where we enjoyed a 3 course lunch with excellent views of the London Eye and the boats going about their business on the Thames. We then boarded out coach for home. (More pics click here)
